Visit to Gloucester Park – 2nd March 2025

Date: 2nd March 2025

Time: from 8:15 a.m.

Weather: dry, sunny, light wind, -1°C to 3°C

My visit on 2nd February 2025 was my first for a very long time but I was prompted to visit again today given that it was a very cold and frosty morning with some mist evident. I hoped that this would provide some good opportunities for photographing the main lake. By the time that I arrived, the sun had risen and was shining strongly and the mist had almost disappeared. Nonetheless, I did get some nice photos including reflections.

Before I reached the main lake, it was very evident that a football match had been abandoned due to a pitch invasion by fans 😊 but as I was leaving the match was underway with the fans off the pitch but still very noisy 😊

Birds on both the main lake and the smaller lake are usually the main focus of a visit although this morning there were far fewer birds on the main lake, presumably due to the large number of fishermen. However, I did record the following during my visit: Mallard (6), Moorhen (c.25), Coot (6), Cormorant (5), Canada Goose (c.100)

Species recorded during this visit were as follows (heard only records in italics):

Mallard

Moorhen
Coot
