St. Nicholas Church local patch site - Red Fox, Chiffchaff and Red Admiral

I did not have a planned visit to my St. Nicholas Church local patch site today but I did walk through part of it as part of an exercise walk.

After joining the access track by Larkins Tyres, I immediately saw a Red Fox sitting and enjoying the sun in the horse paddock.

During my visit to the site yesterday, I heard my first singing male Chiffchaff of the year in the wooded area at the eastern end of the cemetery. This morning, I heard another, but most probably the same bird, a short distance away in the area at the end of the access track from Larkins Tyres.

In this same area, I also saw my first butterfly species of the year, namely a single Red Admiral that flew rapidly through.

Site totals for 2024 to date (2023 totals in brackets):

Birds = 24 (47)

Mammals = 3 (3)
Butterflies = 1 (23)
Dragonflies and damselflies = 0 (12)
Reptiles = 0 (0)
Amphibians = 0 (0)

Total species list for the site:

Birds = 65

Mammals = 7
Butterflies = 25
Dragonflies and damselflies = 11
Reptiles = 1
Amphibians = 0
