The Big County Birdwatch 2025, organised by Essex Birdwatching Society, took place from 11th to 14th April.

During the 4 day weekend, I attended 2 events:

11th April .... guided walk at EWT Gunners Park .... see here

12th April .... South Essex Ringing Group ringing event at Wat Tyler Country Park .... see here

In addition, I independently visited the following:

13th April .... my St. Nicholas Church local patch site .... see here

14th April .... RSPB Rainham Marshes .... see here

Over the 4 days, I recorded 80 species and this included 9 additions to my 2025 UK year list taking it to 134 species:

Nightingale

Swallow

Sedge Warbler

Reed Warbler

Willow Warbler

Common Whitethroat

Lesser Whitethroat

Bearded Tit

Common Tern

The bird of the Big County Birdwatch 2025 for me was the stunning male Bearded Tit at the South Essex Ringing Group ringing event at Wat Tyler Country Park and I make no apologies for posting a photo again!
