Swifts - St. Nicholas Church, Laindon

Following my Swift survey walk near St. Nicholas Church on 18th June 2026 and subsequent Facebook posts regarding Swifts around the vicinity of the church, I took the short walk up there tonight.

Success!

8 “screaming” Swifts seen moving through and flying east at 9 p.m. They were very distant and I probably wouldn’t have spotted them had they not been calling.

3 more “screaming” Swifts seen at 9:30 p.m. just to the west of the church.

This is excellent news given the close proximity of St. Nicholas Church where I believe Swifts used to breed and where a nestbox project was recently approved.

I have added my Swift records to https://www.swiftmapper.org.uk/
