Date: 12th May 2025
Time: from 6:30 a.m.
Weather: dry, sunny, light wind, 12°C to 16°C
I had a much earlier start to my visit this morning in the hope of seeing Red Fox cubs. Whilst I did find a single adult in the northern section of the site, I failed to locate any cubs.
The main highlight this morning was the continual flight of c.50 Starlings in the northern section of the site, including many very noisy juveniles.
Other highlights during my visit were as follows:
Lesser Whitethroat: singing male again heard and eventually seen in the northern section of the site
Chiffchaff: at least 5 singing males (1 seen)
Blackcap: at least 6 singing males (2 seen)
Green Woodpecker: 1 heard calling briefly and distantly in the northern section of the site
Species recorded during this visit were as follows (heard only records in italics):
Lesser Whitethroat
Red Fox
Here are some photos from my visit ….
