I had another early start to my visit this morning in the hope of seeing Red Fox cubs. Again, I was unsuccessful.
Having accessed the site via Larkins Tyres, I spent around 1.5 hours sat at the same location in the northern section where I have recently seen Red Foxes.
The highlights during my visit to just this location were as follows:
Lesser Whitethroat: singing male heard again distantly
Chiffchaff: at least 2 singing males (none seen) plus 2 silent/unsexed birds seen
Blackcap: at least 2 singing males (none seen)
Green Woodpecker: 1 heard calling briefly and distantly
Grey Heron: 1 flew over very high heading in an easterly direction
Mallard: 3 seen in several circuit flights before disappearing
Grey Squirrel: 1 seen basking in the sun on the main oak tree
Red Admiral: 1 seen
Species recorded during this visit were as follows (heard only records in italics):
Lesser Whitethroat
Grey Squirrel
Red Admiral
Here are some photos from my visit ….
