Our (latest) new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, first said he would not be attending the upcoming COP27 in Egypt because he was too busy.
No global leadership whatsoever as the country currently holding the COP presidency.
Despite the Conservative Party continually claiming to prioritise climate change, the environment, nature and wildlife, the new Prime Minister apparently concluded that he had “other pressing domestic commitments”.

The Guardian - Global anger at Sunak’s Cop27 snub that raises fears over UK’s climate crisis stance
But, in yet another U-turn, he has now decided that he could possibly fit in something to do with the climate emergency after all.
This is hardly likely to be a genuine commitment to taking the climate emergency seriously.
It is much more likely to be due to the huge criticism in the UK and across the world due to his decision not to attend COP27.
Perhaps it is even due to being shamed in to attending by the former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who said he would be going to Egypt, presumably to try and re-promote himself rather than for any genuine desire to contribute to tackling the climate emergency.
Glad to see Sunak's screeching U-turn on #COP27, but what an embarrassing mis-step on the world stage. Let this be a lesson to him - climate leadership matters. Now he urgently needs to increase UK ambition on emission reduction targets & pay what we owe to global climate funds https://t.co/vL2hSIq2zZ
