We now have the evidence .... The Guardian - Jubilee TV viewing figures down on previous royal occasions .... the vast majority of the British people are not watching the jubilee coverage and are not interested in it.
Anecdotally, the extremely limited interest is also evident from the almost complete lack of any jubilee decorations, balloons and other rubbish on the houses in my neighbourhood, in strong contrast to the number who put up Christmas lights and decorations. Any jubilee street parties? Not even a hint of one.
Furthermore, the monarchists and the fawning and sycophantic media are gushing that “huge crowds” of 22,000 people turned up in The Mall and they persist with the complete myth that the whole country is celebrating the jubilee.
To put this in perspective, I am a Manchester United fan (although I sometimes wonder why after the last season’s pathetic debacle) and Old Trafford with a capacity of almost 80,000 sells out every other weekend. Do we deduce from that that the whole country support Manchester United? Of course we don’t!
Oh, and what about, for example, the huge demonstrations with well over 100,000
people that turned up on the streets of London on several occasions to demand a
second Brexit referendum. Did we assume from that that the whole country was
opposed to Brexit. Of course we didn’t!
Slava Ukraini! …. Glory to Ukraine!
