There are appalling incidents of wildlife crime (persecution, trapping, poisoning and shooting) against our birds of prey reported on a regular basis.
In fact, 2020 was the worst year on record for wildlife crime against birds of prey in the UK .... see here.
The majority of this occurs in on the moorlands and uplands of northern England and north east Scotland and it is particularly evident on estates managed for driven grouse shooting.
However, other areas are not exempt from appalling crime against our wildlife and now my own county of Essex has seen the death of a Red Kite in suspicious circumstances.
💚🦆 🦉🦋🐝🦊🦡🌼 🌳💚This week I have been working with @Natures_Voice #RSPB with regards to a dead Red kite found in suspicious circumstances in the @EPUttlesford area.
