South Essex areas that could be underwater by 2050

One of the many disastrous impacts of the climate emergency is the increase in sea levels around the world and the low-lying county of Essex will not be exempt from this.

Climate Central, a non-profit organisation, have developed an interactive map showing their predictions of the most likely areas to be worst hit by increasing sea levels. The latest data on the map suggests that huge parts of Essex could be below sea level by 2050.

My home town of Basildon in south Essex doesn't feature in this article or on the interactive map for some reason which is slightly strange given how close we are to the River Thames.
