The Government is ignoring the climate and ecological emergency (again) by approving and progressing the construction of HS2.
This project demonstrates environmental and ecological vandalism on a massive scale.
HS2 will destroy or irreparably damage 5 internationally protected wildlife sites, 693 local wildlife sites, 108 ancient woodlands, 33 legally protected sites of special scientific interest, 18 Wildlife Trust reserves and 21 local nature reserves.
It is also an economic disaster that the country can not afford. The costs are already in excess of £100 billion and some experts project the final cost, if completed, will be around £170 billion.
All this for a Boris Johnson vanity project!
