Pompous ignorant Establishment twat v. gifted footballer and sports pundit

Pompous ignorant Establishment twat v. gifted footballer and sports pundit

Who is the winner?

There is no contest in the view of the majority of people in this country who believe in a decent, tolerant, inclusive and progressive society.

Alex Scott is a mixed race, female and working class. She was an exceptional footballer for Arsenal, scoring the winning goal for them in the 2007 UEFA Women's Cup Finaland she made 140 appearances for the England women’s football team and represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics. Following her retirement, she has become an equally exceptional football pundit on BBC and Sky. She will shortly take over hosting BBC's Football Focus show at the start of the new 2021/22 football season.

For all that, and despite a huge and loyal fanbase, she has been exposed to a great deal of racism and sexism from knuckle-dragging brain-dead muppets who still believe that black or mixed race people, especially females, have no place in sport.

Then along comes so-called "Lord" Digby Jones to have a dig at her accent whist she was part of the BBC's Olympics coverage rather than focusing on her contribution. He obviously still inhabits the dark ages of clipped and posh BBC "accents" and has failed to notice the huge diversity of regional accents spoken by TV presenters that have been evident for so many years.

The Guardian - BBC’s Alex Scott ‘proud’ of working class accent after peer’s elocution jibe

Quite understandably and deservedly, this has led to a huge backlash from other sports pundits and commentators and many others.

And Alex has had her say too 😀 .... not a "g" to be heard 😀 .... the best response possible.

What is it with these Establishment figures and their sense of entitlement and self-worth that makes them believe that they are above everyone else in society and that they can disparagingly look down on them? What is about these people that makes them think they are so superior to the rest of us?

Chris Packham was referred to as a "nutjob" (he has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome) by a pro-hunting former Conservative MP, presumably due to his brilliant campaigning work in highlighting and challenging the illegal persecution and killing of wildlife, especially on the grouse moors of northern England and north east Scotland.

Marcus Rashford was told by a current Conservative MP to focus on football after he missed his penalty for England in the Euro 2020 Final with an obvious dig at his immense achievements as a young man in his home community in south Manchester and nationwide in addressing food poverty, promoting healthy diets, tackling educational attainment and literacy issues, etc.

The list goes on, it is a long one and it is utterly appalling.

Keep up the good work Alex. I, and many others, are looking forward to seeing your debut in the chair on Football Focus very shortly. I am sure that you are confident in your own ability and skills and hopefully you can shrug off the criticism of that twat Digby. I think we would all welcome a period of permanent silence from Digby, whatever his accent! Your continued support for Arsenal is somewhat questionable though 😀.

As Gary Neville, former Manchester United (now, there's a proper team!) and England footballer and now also a football pundit and commentator, said: "Lord Digby Jones! Just say that name to yourself a few times! He has a say in how our country operates. I’m actually starting to see how revolutions occurred! Are you? Keep the red flag flying high, Gary 😀.
