My early morning call today was a Green Woodpecker calling very loudly at 6:10 a.m.
When I hear Green Woodpeckers so close to the flats, they can often be seen either clinging to the tree on the front lawn or foraging on the lawn itself.
However, this morning I could not see the calling bird and, given that it had only called twice, I assumed that it had moved on very quickly.
