I have written many times about the huge benefits to be derived from rewilding, most recently here, here and here.
A study by Rewilding Britain has shown that rewilding just 5% of England could create nearly 20,000 jobs in rural communities and increase employment by 50% compared with intensive farming, demonstrating that fears that restoring nature on a large scale in the UK’s landscapes will lead to job losses in the agriculture community, abandoned farmland and halted food production are misplaced.
According to analysis from Rewilding Britain, hybrid roles in animal husbandry and ecology, positions in nature tourism plus specialist roles in species reintroductions could be among the new employment positions, alongside the clear benefits for biodiversity and the climate.
