Badger cull

I have previously written about the appalling Badger cull in England which the Conservative UK Government seems intent on pursuing despite huge public opposition and overwhelming scientific evidence proving its ineffectiveness in eradicating bovine TB ....

DEFRA have now revealed that at least 33,627 Badgers were slaughtered in 2022 as part of the UK Government's Badger cull. The figures confirm the fears of animal welfare charities and their supporters across the country that up to half of Britain’s total Badger population have now been killed, a total of 210,555 Badgers.

Badger Trust - Now over 210,000 Badgers lost to the cull, up to half of Britain's estimated population

Meanwhile in Wales, where there is a Labour-led Government, 94% of cattle herds are free from bovine TB with no culling of BadgersWhilst England needlessly culls 210,000 Badgers, Wales protects both cattle and Badgers.

This tells you everything you need to know, if that was actually necessary, about the Conservative UK Government's attitude to the biodiversity crisis and its dreadful record on protecting and conserving wildlife and restoring and rewilding the natural environment.
