Today is International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is observed around the world on 12th May of each year, the anniversary of the birth of Florence NightingaleIt marks the contributions that nurses make to societies around the world.

On International Nurses Day this year, the world needs to continue to focus on the unique role of nurses and give sincere thanks for their bravery and selfless contribution and commitment in the struggle to tackle COVID-19. In particular, we must never forget the nurses who have made the ultimate sacrifice and given their lives in caring for others.

In addition, we must demand from politicians and policymakers the proper recognition for the service of these wonderful people and call for a substantial increase in investment in our health services. We must never be as globally under-prepared and under-resourced for a pandemic again.

This year’s theme for International Nurses Day designated by the International Nurses Day | ICN - International Council of Nurses is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead - A vision for future healthcare.
