This wasn't a wildlife watching or photography trip as such but instead a visit to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington in London to see the annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Due to travel restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic plus other reasons, I had not made my usual visit in October and November and the latest exhibition is due to close on 1st August 2021.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition provides an opportunity to see the work of exceptional photographers from around the world and this year was no different.
Wildlife spotting was limited to the ubiquitous feral pigeons but, after the museum visit, the long wait at a very busy South Kensington tube station produced the remarkable sighting of a Red Fox casually trotting along the redundant platform opposite, seemingly totally unconcerned regarding the noisy throng of people waiting for a train. This particular Red Fox looked very healthy unlike many of its urban cousins who appear very scruffy with some suffering from sarcoptic mange. I suspect that from its size and appearance it was one of this year's cubs born in late April.
