The peak of the Monday and Tuesday heatwave saw the highest temperature ever recorded in the UK on Tuesday plus the highest ever temperatures in Wales and Scotland and the highest ever overnight temperature in Yorkshire on Monday into Tuesday.
Here are the highest temperatures across the country today 👇

At least 34 sites have exceeded the UK's previous national record of 38.7°C 🌡️#heatwave2022 #heatwave pic.twitter.com/QwwfzLWZpc
At home in SS15 on Tuesday, it was 22°C outside at 7 a.m. and still 27°C indoors from the heat on Monday.
The outside temperature peaked at 38°C and indoors at over 36°C (my weather station recorded the indoor temperature but gave up trying to record the outside temperature and merely said HH .... HIGH!).
Whilst the temperature had dropped to 20°C outside at 8 a.m. this morning, it was still 26°C indoors.
This is not just “summer”! .... this is the worsening reality of the climate emergency.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab, tells us to “enjoy the sunshine” and, on the first day of the heatwave, the High Court concluded that the UK Government’s flagship Climate Change Strategy has failed to include the policies it needs to deliver the promised emissions cuts as legally required to meet its obligations under the Climate Change Act 2008 (see here). On top of that, we have some of the muppets vying to be elected as the new Prime Minister hinting at pushing back the already totally inadequate 2050 net zero target.
When are Governments, businesses and corporations and all of us as individuals going to heed the warnings and the evidence in front of eyes and take the substantial step-change actions required to ensure the survival of humanity and all the wonderful biodiversity that we share our planet with?
We warned and we warned and we warned.

We were ignored, mocked and vilified.
But we were right.
And there is precisely zero satisfaction in saying so.
Sir David Attenborough .... "What we do in the next few years will determine the next few thousand years."
George Monbiot .... "This heatwave has eviscerated the idea that small changes can tackle extreme weather. Dangerous heat will become the norm, even in the UK. Systems need to urgently change – and the silence needs to be broken. Can we talk about it now? I mean the subject most of the media and most of the political class has been avoiding for so long. You know, the only subject that ultimately counts – the survival of life on Earth."
A typically powerful, passionate and searing piece of journalism as usual from the winner of the Orwell prize for journalism George Monbiot .... The Guardian - This heatwave has eviscerated the idea that small changes can tackle extreme weather
Those who support business as usual, which is pushing us towards catastrophe on an unimaginable scale, are described in the media as "moderates".

Those who seek to defend life on Earth and human wellbeing are described as "extremists".
*They have got this the wrong way round.*
Slava Ukraini! …. Glory to Ukraine!
