It is finally done .... except it isn't

So, there we have it …. Johnson is not fit to be leader of the Conservative Party but he is apparently suitable to continue as PM and form a new Cabinet.

Conservative Party MPs, fortunately not all of them, think that Johnson isn’t fit to be their leader but they are quite happy to impose him on the country and all of us for a few more months.

And Johnson himself .... no apologies, no contrition, no humility and no remorse in his so-called resignation speech.

This week there were an unprecedented number of resignations from Government Ministers, complete and utter chaos and a totally dysfunctional Government, all at a time of immense national and global challenges.

Johnson can not command the confidence of the Conservative Party, let alone Parliament as a whole. It is completely untenable that Johnson continues as PM.

Business as usualis not sustainable.

Exit means exit.

Leave means leave.

We need our leaders to demonstrate competency, decency, honesty, dignity, integrity and morality …. people who the public can respect and trust, whatever their political allegiances and whatever their disparate views and values.

What we don’t need is a compulsive and serial liar.

What we don’t need is serial incompetence, corruption and criminality.

Oh, and we don't need a clown and buffoon pretending to be a mature adult.

Johnson has been an unmitigated disaster as Prime Minister from minute one and that was wholly predictable given his personality, character and track record both inside and outside Parliament. He was and is totally unfit for office.

The public, the country, the UK Parliament, the UK’s global partners and allies, and even the Conservative Party who I do not support and who I have never voted for, expect and deserve decent, honourable and competent leadership.

Get exit done!
