@BBCNews have disgraced themselves this week. Absolute one sided propaganda dressed up as news, ignoring a quarter of the country and the diversity of opinion on the monarchy. #NotMyKing pic.twitter.com/qQk2td23CP

I have had enough of this and for the first time in my life I am going to complain!
The queen has died.
Fact.
There is a new king.
Fact.
Of course, these are important and historic events, although not as important and historic as when the anachronistic and archaic hereditary monarchy is finally replaced by a head of state democratically elected by the people of the nation.
It is absolutely right that current events are reported.
However, in a supposedly democratic nation, these events should be reported in a non-emotional, factual and balanced way.
Instead, we have had totally excessive 24-hour coverage day after day in most of the media. The death of the queen and the proclamation of a new king does not warrant or deserve the most appalling fawning, sycophancy, obsequiousness and cloying veneration.
I am guessing that we still have to put up with this for probably at least another week, if not more, and then for it all to be repeated again when the coronation of the new king occurs.
This has all been to the detriment of hardly any coverage of other news. Apparently, nothing else of importance and significance is happening in the UK or around the world.
Surely the media don’t need to be reminded that the real critical issues deserving and demanding our attention are, amongst many others, the following?
A climate emergency with extreme events being experienced around the world
A biodiversity crisis with mass extinctions of nature and wildlife
A Covid-19 pandemic leaving millions dead and the increasing threat of
other zoonotic disease transmissions and future pandemics
Ongoing wars and conflicts in Ukraine, Yemen, the Middle East and elsewhere
Human rights issues in China, Myanmar and elsewhere
The ongoing threat of extremist terrorism
Global hunger, poverty and inequality
The collapse of advanced global economies with low growth and rampant
inflation and a desperate cost of living crisis for millions of people
Basically, we have existential threats to the very
future of sustainable, peaceful, co-operative life on Earth but instead (yet
again), we have another royal event dominating the media.
Also of great concern is the fact that the content that is being continually broadcast or published is
not including a single republican voice.
The views and opinions of republicans should be heard and respected just as much as those of monarchists.
More than 1 in 4 (27%) British people now support abolishing the monarchy including 40% of those under 25. Support for retaining the monarchy stands at just 60%, well below the 70% to 75% previously reported from across the polling industry over the last 10 years.
In recent days, there have already been hundreds of hours of coverage of the monarchy and the royal family. I am just wondering, given presumably the media’s commitment to impartiality and presenting all views and opinions, when can I expect to hear or read what republicans have got to say?
It was exactly the same with the jubilee in June 2022. There was wall-to-wall coverage of this despite the fact that a You Gov poll showed that 54% of British people were not interested. The poll showed 54% were "not very" (29%) or "not at all" (25%) interested in the event with just 11% "very interested".
It was exactly the same with the death of Prince Philip in April 2021. There was wall-to-wall coverage of this resulting in what I believe was the highest number of complaints to the BBC ever recorded.

I have now refused to turn on my TV for days (other than for pre-recorded stuff), I have not visited news websites for days and I have cancelled push notifications from news websites and social media platforms which were pinging through to my phone almost constantly.
Increasingly people are questioning the coverage of the media. If, like me, you want to complain, then follow these links ….
