George Monbiot is one of my favourite writers and campaigners.
I have read 3 of George's books and attended many events since 2013 (after reading "Feral") where he has been a speaker on issues such as the climate emergency and rewilding.
He has just published a powerful and thought-provoking video on Double Down News.
I would love you to watch this, because I suspect this might be the most important issue of all. https://t.co/u7CgDBpfUH

The video starts with the horrific and disgusting
practice of intensive salmon farming. I stopped eating farmed salmon some time
ago after reading several independent reports on the welfare of the fish
(disease, stress, etc.), the huge adverse impact on our marine environment and its
wildlife and the potential implications for human health.
It goes on to question the moral and ethical
choices we should all be making when we buy goods and services. This is all set
in the context of consumerist monetised global capitalism which directly
contributes to the climate emergency and the biodiversity crisis plus the
obsessive celebrity culture which creates selfish and self-centred
societies with all the impacts that this has for our health and well-being.
As our communities, country and the world slowly
emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, there is an opportunity to reassess who
we are and what we want to be, including the relationships between each other
and the natural living world on which we greatly rely for our future
health, well-being and existence as a species.
