The oldest known bird in the world has hatched a chick at the age of 70.
"Wisdom", a Laysan Albatross, welcomed her new chick on 1st February 2021 on Midway Atoll in the North Pacific.
"Wisdom" was ringed by an expert in 1956, outliving the person that classified her all those years ago, and is at least 70 years old. Biologists believe that "Wisdom" has hatched 30 to 36 chicks throughout her life.

I am very pleased for "Wisdom" but also pleased that mothers in my local town are not still reproducing at 70 years old and providing us with a huge over-supply of feral kids π.
