Social distancing

We have heard a lot about "social distancing" over the last few months as one of the key measures to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19.

The recommended "social distance" is 2 metres which can be difficult for some people to judge, not least those who still adhere to imperial measures rather than metric measures!

The RSPB have come up with a helpful prompt for us birders 😀.

The only problem is that for many birders they will rarely, if ever, encounter a White-tailed Eagle or a Peregrine. I have been fortunate to see both species on numerous occasions but never in my home town or from the queue waiting to get in to Asda .... I live in hope ðŸ˜€.

When I visited RSPB Otmoor in Oxfordshire last week as part of my lockdown breakout trips, there was a similar sign in the car park but it was illustrated with a Mute Swan which seems much more sensible since even non-birders know what a "swan" looks like and many will have seen one before, if only on their local park lake.

So, having mentioned the familiar Mute Swan, here are a few of my photos that were taken well before "social distancing" became a requirement ....
