Former Environment Secretary urges successor not to drop nature-friendly farming scheme

Even the former Environment Secretary, George Eustice, who consistently pandered to the National Farmers Union and the farming lobby rather than dealing with the biodiversity crisis in our country, has come out and urged his successor, Ranil Jayawardena, not to scrap the proposed Environmental Land Management Scheme which aims to reward farmers for encouraging nature recovery, improving soil health, reducing pesticides and increasing carbon sequestration.
