Visit to St. Nicholas Church and surrounding areas – 11th October 2022

Date: 11th October 2022

Time: from 8 a.m.

Weather: dry, sunny, light wind, 5°C to 7°C

I had a very short visit to the site this morning of less than an hour.

However, it proved to be very worthwhile given the opportunities that I had to photograph 2 Red Foxes in the western section of the cemetery.

I have seen a Red Fox in this same location on my last 3 visits so it may be time to provide a buffet next time to encourage them to remain for a longer period of time.

It was again very quiet in respect of birds but I did hear both a loudly calling Great Spotted Woodpecker in the trees immediately behind the church and a calling Green Woodpecker in the wooded area adjacent to the access track from Larkins Tyres.

Species recorded during this visit were as follows (heard only records in italics):

Blue Tit
Great Tit
Robin
Blackbird
Dunnock
Green Woodpecker
Great Spotted Woodpecker
Jay
Magpie
Carrion Crow
Woodpigeon

Red Fox

Here are some photos from my visit:
