From my lockdown window - 5th April 2020

There were 2 highlights today: a distant male and female Sparrowhawk soaring over the St. Nicholas Church site (a notable difference in size in this sexually dimorphic species) plus a Brimstone flying along the grassy access from our car park to the St. Nicholas Church site.

Like last night, 1 or 2 Pipistrelles appeared at dusk flying over the treetops and rooftops but the avian accompaniment tonight was a singing male Blackbird.

Venus again shone brightly in the dusk sky as it will do in this position for some time.

Photo: Venus from the lockdown window …. not a great image but it is over 25 million miles away and the photo was taken through the window ðŸ˜€

I recorded the following species today (heard only records in italics):

Blackbird
Robin
Goldfinch
Green Woodpecker
Woodpigeon
Carrion Crow
Magpie
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Herring Gull

Brimstone

Pipistrelle sp.
