This was my earliest visit since setting up this blog. It was a beautiful morning with a slight mist and hazy sunshine.
Bird song seemed to be noticeable and plentiful everywhere with many species joining in. This included 2 Song Thrushes which tend to sing more earlier in the morning or in the evening and even at night.
I saw 7 singing male Chiffchaffs and 3 singing male Blackcaps with at least a further 3 singing males and 4 singing males respectively heard but not seen.
Starlings are well known as being accomplished mimics and I heard a bird today giving a very good impression of a car alarm. Sadly, he also seems to have learnt the sound of an ambulance siren which for obvious reasons are becoming increasingly frequent in the area.
The other highlights this morning were again a fleeting glimpse of a Sparrowhawk as it disappeared in to the trees plus both Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker heard calling.
After seeing 4 Grey Squirrels yesterday (my first records for some time), I saw another 4 this morning.
